This man is the greatest! He was my high school principal, allowed me to graduate even though I didn't have enough credits. Then, when I became employed with the school board, he put me on the sub list, even though Kelsey had screwed up my marks. He still remembers me when he comes around to the school.

George Rathwell, a familiar face in the city's school system, has been named new director of the Saskatoon public school board, effective Aug. 1.
"We are extremely pleased that Mr. Rathwell put his name forward and that he has been chosen," said board chairperson Ray Morrison in a press release.
"We know the leadership of the organization will now pass from one very capable leader to another."
Dr. Jim Jutras, the current Director of Education, retires from his duties as Director effective July 31, 2008.
For the past four years, Rathwell has served as one of two Deputy Directors of Education.
"The Saskatoon Board of Education has established two learning priorities within its strategic plan. Our 'Literacy for Life' and 'Collegiate Renewal' priorities are proving to be an excellent focus for student learning and staff development," said Rathwell.
"We intend to continue these learning priorities and learning agenda for the educational benefit of our students and staff."
Rathwell has 26 years of experience in the Saskatoon public school system, serving as a collegiate teacher, vice-principal, principal, superintendent and deputy director. He also taught for two years in rural Saskatchewan and acted as a provincial educational consultant for one year.
